The Blessing of Goat Dispersal in Timor Leste
The family of Abilio da Silva is a small but loving family blessed with three children. They live in a simple village community where life is not always easy. Before receiving support from the goat dispersal programme, Abilio worked as a seasonal and casual farmer. His income was uncertain and depended heavily on the weather and available daily labor. There were times when it was difficult for the family to meet their daily needs and provide enough food for their children.
One year ago, Abilio’s family received two young female goats through the Care Channels goat dispersal programme. They were very grateful, but they did not know how much this opportunity would truly change their lives. With proper care and dedication, the goats grew healthy and strong. Over time, both goats gave birth and had two baby goats. This has brought great joy and encouragement to Abilio and his family. The goats had not only increased in number but also increased the family’s income. Abilio was able to sell the young goats and use the money earned to support household needs, school expenses, and daily living costs.
Today, Abilio no longer relies only on irregular farming work. The goat programme has become an additional and reliable source of income. The family is now waiting happily for the second round of baby goats to be born, and is ready to pass on the blessing to another family in need. They feel proud to participate in this cycle of sharing and helping others. This programme has been truly beneficial and has significantly improved the economic condition of Abilio da Silva’s family. They are deeply thankful for the opportunity and hopeful for a brighter future for their children.
